| The Medicinals music can best be described as guitar-driven rock and roll with catchy riffs, subtle harmonies, and heartfelt lyrics. Their musical influences range far with the reggae-tinged sounds of the song Gunja or the folk overtones of the song Smoke too Many Cigarettes. Ocean Ride is the band at its melodic best, with the hard-charging Do the Crawl exemplifying the band at its straight ahead rocking best. |
The Medicinals are playing at The Bistro Music Festival on September 10th. We will also be playing at Nick's Birthday Party on September 24th. Mike's 50th, April 2nd, South Delta Curling Club. Templeton Mini Fundraiser Dance, April 29th, Russian Hall, 600 Campbell St, at 8pm. You can now reach The Medicinals at our blog. |

| Dan Ballance and Nick Read met in high school and began writing songs in the mid-eighties. In 1989 they formed the band, Locos. They released a LOCOS CD in 1997 (all the songs can be heard through a link in the Discography Section). Rick Maeers joined the band as a bass player that same year. LOCOS became The Medicinals in 2005 and released a 4-song EP in 2009 (which can also be heard in the Discography Section). Peter Sullivan joined the band as the drummer in 2009. The Medicinal’s songs weave stories of hope and sadness. Their unique harmonies and clever hooks illustrate their considerable songwriting abilities. The infectious beat of their live performances makes it difficult for people not to be drawn onto the dance floor and into the mosh pit. |

| The Medicinals lyrics are reflections of the band members life experiences; their hopes, dreams, successes, personal relationships, dysfunctions. Some of the lyrics in Do The Crawl ave political overtones. Gunja reflects more of the bohemian lifestyle of the band. Ocean Ride is about the beauty of getting lost in a relationship. You can also listen to Do The Crawl and Ocean Ride here at Last.fm. |
